On Saturday, October 12, 2024, an alarming incident occurred during a rally for former president Donald Trump in Coachella Valley, California.
An armed man, identified as Vem Miller, a 49-year-old resident of Las Vegas, was apprehended by police at a nearby checkpoint.
This occurred after a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine were discovered in his vehicle.
The arrest was made without further incident.
HOW WAS THE GUNMAN AT TRUMP’S RALLY CAUGHT?

Officers, specifically assigned to the rally’s security, encountered Miller at the intersection of Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
Reports indicate that the weapons were found during a routine vehicle check of the black SUV Miller was driving at the time.

The suspect was booked into the John J. Benoit Detention Center on charges of possessing a loaded firearm.
Additionally, he was charged with possessing a high-capacity magazine, both in violation of California state laws.
Fortunately, the incident did not compromise the safety of former president Trump or the hundreds of attendees at the rally.
The Sheriff’s Office issued a statement thanking the event’s security team for their cooperation.
Moreover, the office emphasized that while the incident was isolated, all necessary measures were taken to ensure the safety of the former president and those present.
